Lara D’s

latest creative contrasts and colours

Italian designer Lara D’Alpaos launched her eyewear brand in 2010 to much acclaim. The eyewear stood out for their imaginative designs that took classic shapes and gave them a vocabulary of their own. It was clear that Lara was creating products that were works of art, a reflection of her passion for fashion and design that successfully combined Italian craftsmanship and quality.

Her knowledge and deep understanding of the product came from being raised in a family with over 40 years’ experience in eyewear production. The signature stamp and creativity is partly from her being a trained architect. The concept of lightness, the colours and shapes are created through her fine aesthetic sensibilities. These are then applied in the manufacturing process using advanced applications of new and innovative production techniques.

Over the years the Lara D’ brand has grown to a collection of over 80 artistic designs, in five micro collections that feature a mix of materials including acetate, stainless steel and beta titanium.

The latest collection for the spring and summer of 2020 is a range of designs that combine metal and acetate, presented in a choice of delightfully pleasing colours. The well-defined angular shapes are a joyful melange of striking creativity and fun, yet convey the epitome of elegance while making a strong, contemporary statement.

Much like all the Lara D’ collections, the new Combi designs too offer a wide choice to flatter different skin tones, eye colours and face shapes, and are well suited for all age groups. Novel patterned designs and single toned colours in 4mm acetate combined with a lower metal rim make for a playful contrast. The silhouette is a visual delight with its architectural ‘open’ effect, which is an open space between the lens and the acetate at the upper rim of the frame. The fronts are in a sleek, shiny metal temple and flow into long, slim sculpted acetate end tips.

The collection includes four Combi models for women and one for men, their glamour and unique tonal range captured to great effect in a vibrant new campaign that has been launched for 2020. The angular shaped Diana, Didimo and Dionisia models show the architectural ‘open’ effect. The styles of the frames are further enhanced with the choice of colours and combinations: primary tones, soft, delicate transparent pastels and subtle patterned effects in Italian acetate. There’s also Doda, a classic style, and the Didimo model, a Combi rectangular shape for men.

“Italian craftsmanship is the international definition that best expresses the philosophy behind my collection,” says Lara D’Alpaos. “All our designs are made exclusively in Italy in the Valle del Cadore, an enchanting place with a natural setting at the heart of the magical Belluno Dolomites.”
