New to THE INDIAN OPTICIAN ?
It is with great pride that we introduce to you the SLK Optometry Foundation, a non-governmental organisation established as a memorial to late Mr. S. L. Kumar. Mr. Kumar was the visionary Founder-Editor of The Indian Optician, a bi-monthly publication whose columns are till date devoted to the promotion of the optical, optometric and ophthalmic professions, trade and industries.
SLK, as he was popularly called, had a singular mission, which was to uplift the dormant eye-care industry and trade in India. The SLK Optometry Foundation was perpetuated in his memory as an endeavour to improve ocular health care through sustained continuing educational programmes including seminars, trainings, symposiums and workshops, conducted frequently, across India. Since we held our very first seminar in 2002 in Chandigarh, we have staged our CEPs all across India and several opticians and optometrists have attended and benefited from these programmes. The CEPs, were indeed, carefully designed with a comprehensive curriculum to impart a deep insight into the tremendous advances in ocular health care science and technology, and aimed to solidly equip the delegates and help them to integrate the applications usefully into their day-to-day practices.
